BTS's V Faces Stalking Incident as Overzealous Fan Attempts Marriage Proposal

In a recent incident that highlights the growing societal issue of excessive stalking by sasaeng fans, a woman in her 20s was apprehended by the police for violating stalking prevention laws and trespassing. The target of her obsession was none other than V from the globally popular group BTS.

 

 

According to the police on the 17th, the 20s woman, identified as A, was taken into custody without arrest on charges of stalking, home invasion, and other related offenses. The incident occurred on the 26th of last month at 6:30 PM when A visited V's residence in Samsung-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Upon V's arrival at the apartment parking lot, A followed him into the elevator and engaged in stalking behavior, including attempting to hand him a marriage proposal.

Despite leaving the scene immediately after the incident, A was captured on CCTV. It was revealed that A had visited V's residence on multiple occasions in the past.

 

Responding to the incident, V's agency, Big Hit Music, stated, "We strictly adhere to a zero-tolerance policy regarding stalking crimes that invade artists' privacy and pose a threat to their safety."

 

V himself reassured fans through Weverse, stating, "Hey, I'm okay. Don't worry," in response to the incident.

 

This is not the first time V has expressed the challenges posed by sasaeng fans. In a V LIVE broadcast titled 'Long Time No See' in December 2019, he revealed the discomfort caused by fans on chartered flights. He mentioned, "We take chartered flights. Actually, we want to take regular flights. However, people who know we are taking a flight end up sitting in front of or next to us. It was quite uncomfortable not being able to relax in that private space."

V concluded by saying, "Honestly, I hope it doesn't happen. I'll stop here. It's really scary."

 

The controversy surrounding sasaeng fans continues to escalate, with a growing demand for stronger legal consequences to address these intrusive behaviors.
